Everest
Base Camp from Tibet is one of popular trekking route.
The Tibet Everest Base Camp Tour is a very comprehensive
tour of Tibet with visits to the cultural, historic and
natural attractions of Tibet. The tour includes all the
important places of interest in central & south Tibet
including a visit to Ronbok Monastery and Mt. Everest
Base Camp.
From Kathmandu drive across along the Friendship Highway
and 4-WD jeeps, across the Tibetan highlands and high
passes to the fabled Rongbok Monastery and Mt. Everest
Base Camp from where the view of the great North face of
Mount Everest is the most spectacular of Mt. Everest.
After Everest Base Camp drive to Lhasa via Shigatse.
Shigatse is the second biggest town in Tibet. Shigatse
means in Tibetan "The Estate that fulfills one's Wishes
". Tashilhunpo Monastery is its major historic
attraction.
Lhasa is the spiritual and political capital of Tibet.
Lhasa means in Tibetan “The land of gods". There are
numerous scenic spots and historical attractions, among
which Potala Palace, Norbulingka, Drepung Monastery,
Sera Monastery and Jokhang Temple being the most famous.
Visiting Lhasa then flight back to Kathmandu or Train to
Beijing.
Itinerary on details:-
Day 01: pick up from the International Airport
and transfer to Hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley Kathmandu
valley, pashupatinath Temple, Baudhanath Stupa,
Soyambunath stupa and Kathmandu Durbar square.
Day 03: sightseeing in Bhaktapur and Patan Durbar
square.
Day 04: Kathmandu to Nyalam (3750m)-123Kms.
The trip starts with an early morning drive from
Kathmandu to Kodari. After immigration and custom
formalities are completed we continue up to the Tibetan
border town of Zhangmu. Your Tibetan guide will meet the
group on arrival at the check post and then the road
climbs further to Nyalam (3700m) where we'll spend the
night. Along today's route are some fantastic views of
deep valleys with overflowing waterfalls.
Day 05: Nyalam to Tingri (4390m) -147 Kms.
Today's drive to Tingri takes around five to six hours,
crossing two spectacular passes along the way; Nyalam
pass (3800m) and Lalung La pass (5082m). Today there are
some spectacular views of the Himalayas to be had,
including Jugal Himal, Mt. Makalu (8464m) and, of
course, the mighty Everest (8850m).
Day 06: Tingri (4390m) to Rongbuk (5100m) – 105 Km.
After breakfast it's just a short, easy drive to Rongbuk
- the home of the highest monastery in Tibet – leaving
plenty of time to explore this historic treasure. Once
again, there are some stunning views to be had of the
Himalayas.
Day 07: Everest Base Camp Excursion (5100m.)
A two hour trek from Rongbuk will take you to the base
of the highest peak on earth; the north face of Mount
Everest (8850m). Explore the Base Camp where countless
expeditions have set off and see the Rongphu glacier.
The base camp itself is dry and barren, but the views of
Everest more than compensate for this; having the
highest mountain in the world towering over you is an
experience you'll never forget.
Day 08: Rongbuk to Shigatse (3900m) - 304 Kms.
Today your Land Cruisers will cover some rocky terrain,
covering the eight to ten hour drive to the city of
Shigatse. Shigatse is the home of the famous Tashilunpo
Monastery; the historical seat of the Panchen Lama
lineage and well known for its huge Thangka wall.
Day 09: Shigatse to Gyantse (3950m)-90kms.
In the morning we'll visit the Tashilunpo Monastery and
the free bazaar of Xigaste. After lunch it's just a
pleasant two hours drive to Gyantse, which has the
Khumbum Stupa and the Phalkot Monastery.
Day 10: Gyantse to Lhasa (3650m)-259kms.
The drive to the final enticing destination of Lhasa
takes eight hours, crossing two passes - The Karo La
pass (5010m) and Kamba La pass (4794m) – as well as the
dazzling lake Yamdrok Tso (Turquoise Lake). We'll also
cross the wide Yarlung Tsangpo River and catch our first
views of the legendary Potala Palace.

11: Guided tour to Jokhang Temple & shera Monastery:
Visit to Jokhang Temple. This temple is the most revered
shrine in all of Tibet and is constantly bustling with
devout worshippers. We will also be given the
opportunity to shop in Barkor, the crowded central
market of Lhasa. In the afternoon we will visit is Sera
Monastery, a fifteenth century sprawl of golden roofs
and whitewashed walls. This well preserved monastery is
located just a few miles North of Lhasa and is home to
several hundred monks. It is famous debating activities
are happening 3-4pm quite regularly every day.
Day 12: Guided tour Potala Palace & Drepung

Today is very special day, because Tibet trip would not
be complete without experiencing the vital Potala
Palace. This palace is Lhasa's cardinal landmark and is
a wonder of Eastern architecture. Your first site of
this massive structure will be a magical moment
remembered for years to come. It has been a palace since
the fifth or sixth century and was once home to the
Dalai Lama. This truly amazing day will ended with a
visit to the Drepung Monastery. Once the world's largest
monastery, housing 10,000 monks, Drepung monastery lies
hidden in rocky ridges just beyond the city.
Surprisingly much of the building was left untouched
throughout so many hundred of years.
Day 13: Flight back to Kathmandu or train to Beijing. |
