A 50 day climbing expedition to worlds 13th highest peak The local name of Broad Peak is Falchon Kangri 8051m, also called Broad Peak because of its breadth at the top enormous triple-headed Breithorn (4,165m high three-headed peak of European Alps) of the Baltoro. In 1957, as Austrian expedition led by Marcus Schmuck, with Kurt Deimberger and Hermann Bhul, who is considered to be one of the best Austrian climbers. While climbing they made the best use of ropes which were fixed by the 1954 German expedition. On 9th June1957 that Schmuck, Wintersteler, Deimberger & Hermann Buhl reached the summit peak without using oxygen and high altitude porters.
