Round Dhaulagiri, Thapa Peak and Tilicho lake Trek

Round Dhaulagiri, Thapa Peak and Tilicho lake Trek There is a long difficult trek around Dhaulagiri (8167m) that start from Beni on the Kali Gandaki and follows the Magdi Khola westwards to Darbang before turning north along a tiny trail that leads though forest into high country. Much of the route is over snow and glaciers, crossing the French Col at 5240m, going through the Hidden Valley and crossing the 5155m Dhampus Pass. The trek passes Batase Danda (windy hill), where it is usually as windy as the name suggests, then descends steeply to Marpha in the Kali Gandaki valley.

The Dhaulagiri trail follows the Myagdi khola, the river that drains the southern side of the Dhaulagiri massif and Northern side is Gurja Himal. Passing through the settlements of Darbang and Muri, the country is still quite heavily populated with scattered villages and farming land. Beyond Muri, the Myagdi khola swings north and the landscape becomes much more rugged and sparsely populated. The tree line is reached just below the sit of the, so called, Italian base camp, located at the snout of the Chhonbaraan Glacier, is an ideal place to spend an acclimatization day exploring the hills around about.

From Italian Base camp the trail goes to other side through the glacier with very small trail to the France Base camp is just before the Water fall. Between French Base camp and Japanese Base camp some times there is falling rock from left side and some times avalanche. Walk to Dhaulagiri base camp is one of the difficult days, because there is no trail and you most pass though the Glacier and you need very experience Guide. the trek continues French pass, hidden valley and Thapa pass is fantastic view point of whole Annapurna Range.Thapa Peak is one of the easy trekking peak and peak offer you fantastic view of Tukuche peak, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna Himal, Throng peak and Mustang Valley. After Thapa peak trek decent to Jomsom Valley.
