Trekking in Everest Region
Everest TrekkingThe highest mountain on earth has several different names. To the westerners it became Mount Everest in 1865, but to the Khumbu Sherpas and Tibetan it has always been Chomolungma. More recently the government of Nepal has given it the name Sagarmatha. The Solukhumbu region of Nepal where Everest (8,850m) lies has been a magnet for travelers ever since its opening to foreigners in 1950. The region is famous not only for its proximity to the world's highest mountain, but also for its Sherpa villages and monasteries with their virtually unchanged culture. Solukhumbu has received countless trekkers and mountaineers from all over the world and has developed to a stage where many options are possible, from a full-scale expedition with tents and porters to an independent trek using the local lodges. The Sagarmatha National Park, established in 1976, covers much of this region. This fascinating land surrounded by high mountains is a real paradise for mountaineers and trekkers.

First we experience a sensational air flight to Lukla and the Himalayan massif. You will notice that the Solukumbu region has completely different culture and nature.
