Ghalegaon Ghanpokhara Trek
Ghalegaun (2095m) and Ghanpokhara (2158m) are
traditional Gurung villages nestled in the lap
of the Annapurna range. The villages are
predominantly inhabited by the Ghyabre Gurung of
this region. The villages offer a peek into the
culture of Gurungs at their home-stays and
through cultural programs. The local people also
perform traditional Ghatu, Krishna Charitra,
Jhankri Lama Dances for visitors dressed in
traditional attire. One of the earliest
settlements of the Gurungs, Ponjyu village falls
in Ghalegaun VDC, while the Ghyabre Ghar, which
is the ancestral home of traditional Gurung
priests, and the ancestral home of Gurung kings
at Kolasonthar, are in Ghanpokhara VDC. There
are Gurung pilgrimage sites in and around this
region, including the Samba Chhyoling Gompa at
Nassar Danda. Devotees throng Ghalegaun during
Maghe Sangranti, when a fair is held at Uttar
Kanya Temple .
The villages offer spectacular mountain views
when weather is clear. The peaks that can be
seen from Ghalegaun and Ghanpokhara are
Annapurna range, Lamjung, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu
among others. The area has green pastures of
grasslands and rich in fauna including medicinal
herbs, rhododendron forests. Various kinds of
Himalayan birds and wild animals are also found
here. Visitors can also visit honey-hunting
sites in Ghanpokhara in the villages.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Pashupatinath
Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Soyambunath Stupa and
Kathmandu Durbare squire with Guide over night
in Hotel with B/B.
Day 03: sightseeing in Bhaktapur Durbar
squire and Patan Durbare Squire over night in
Hotel with B/B.
Day 04: About 6 hours drive from
Kathmandu Khudi along Trishuli River. Overnight
at Khudi Lodge B/L/D.
Day 05: Khudi – Ghalegaun (2095m). 4 hrs
Trekking.
Day 06: Ghalegaun- Ghanpokhara (2158m).
1.5 hrs.
Day 07: Ghanpokhara – Khudi. 5 hrs.
Day 08: Khudi – Pokhara 5 hrs.
Day 09: Sightseeing in
Pokhara over night in Hotel.
Day 10: Drive to
Kathmandu 6 hrs.
Day 11: Departure to
Home land.
