Trip Information

The Gurung Heritage Trekking provides first-Hand experience of Gurung life style and culture. Trekkingin Gurung Heritage starts from Khudi to Ghalegaun and Ghanpokhara. Trek to Gurung Heritage passes through other Gurung villages, Bhujung, Pasgaun, Pakhrikot, Nangidhar finally ending at Pokhara. One can also see wonderful views of the Annapurna range on the route. The local communities in these villages perform cultural shows for visitors on request. Accommodation is available at community-run home-stays. Conversely, one can also start the trek from Pokhara. Approximate 4 hours drive from Pokhara to Thumsikot, Ghumte Bazaar in Kaski, brings to you the trekking gateway passing Begnas lake and the other seven lakes of the region. The route continues to Gahatebesi (750masl) and beyond, and the final touch climb brings you to Nangidhar (1900 masl) village where you stay for the night. It is not unusual for the villagers from Nangidhar to descend down and greet you with a warm Namaste, flower and garlands and crimson powder, a typical Nepali way of gretting guests. There is a hill with the remains of a 200 year old Gurung settlements and a beautiful lake that can be reached after a short hike from Nangidhar.

Next morning you begin your trek to Pasgaun along a straight and levelled trail for several hours. This section passes through the jungle and waterfalls. The toughest part of the journey is in the afternoon – the locals say that the step ascent from Bagaicha to Pasgaun is their Everest. This trekking itinerary can be deign as your interest and time. Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu International Airport drive to Hotel and wel come diner.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Soyambunath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbare squire with Guide over night in Hotel with B/B.

Day 03: sightseeing in Bhaktapur Durbar squire and Patan Durbare Squire over night in Hotel with B/B.

Day 04: About 6 hours drive from Kathmandu Khudi along Trishuli River. Overnight at Khudi Lodge B/L/D.

Day 05: Trek for about 4 hours from Khudi to Ghalegaun (2095m) / Ghanpokhara (2158m) to receive a warm welcome from the people. Tour of this beautiful place and experience the Gurung lifestyle. Overnight Camp or  (Home- stays) B/L/D. 

Day 06: Trek down from Ghalegaun/ Ghanpokhara to Bhujung (1690m) for your next home stay for 2 hrs. We arrive at Bhujung for lunch. Overnight Camp or  (Home- stay) B/L/D.

Day 07: Again trek from Bhujung to Pasgaun (1636m) for 5 hrs. Pasgaon is mainly inhabited by Gurung and you will enjoy the community based home-stay in this village. You will get a chance to observe Micro hydro project at Midim River. Overnight Camp or  (Home- stays) B/L/D.

Day 08: Trek from Pasgaun to Nagidhar (1900m) to Pakhrikot (1305m) for 5 hrs. Lunch at Nagidhar would be wonderful after few hours walk. Overnight Camp or  (Home- stays) B/L/D. 

Day 09: This is the last day of your trek on which you trek from Pakhrikot to the main highway for about 3/4 hours and then drive to Pokhara. Overnight in Hotel With B/B.

Day 10: Pokhara sightseeing Sarangkot Sarangkot sun seat view, Bindabasheni Temple, David Fall Overnight in Hotel With B/B. 

Day 11: Drive to Kathmandu 6 hrs or flight to Kathmandu.

Day 12: Transfer to International Airport and fly out.

Cost Includes

  • Pick up and transfer by car from Airport-Hotel-Airport.

Cost Excludes

  • Meals in Kathmandu
