Lumba Sumba Makalu base Camp trek connects the Kanchenjunga region and Makalu region through the Lumba Sumba Pass, which belongs to the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area and the Makalu Barun National Park. Day 1: Arrival Kathmandu 1300m and Transfer to Hotel B/B
After the arrival in Kathmandu, we will pick you up from the Airport and take you to the Hotel and Trek briefing in the evening.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing Hotel B/B
Kathmandu valley sightseeing in various places, with English speaking guide include entrance fee and transportation.
Day 3: Bhadrapur Flight and Drive to Taplejung 1820m Tent Camp B/L/D
In the morning, there will be a flight to Bhadrapur and a 7/8 hour drive to Taplejung by private transportation. You will drive through Ilam tea garden, which is one of the beautiful places in Nepal; many domestic tourists visit this place for a holiday. You can see Mt Kanchenjunga from here. Ilam tea is famous in the world.
Day 4: Drive to Helek and Trek to Ila Dada 2051m Tent Camp B/L/D
We will take a private offroad jeep from Taplejung to Helek; it takes a 4/5 hour drive from Taplejung. The road is bumpee. After lunch at Helek, our trek starts. In the beginning, we will cross the Tamor River and climb up to Lelep Sherpa village. We head to the north of direction from Lelep to Iladdada to enjoy landscape waterfalls, local culture, and nature. Ila dada is a small village.
Day 5: Trek to Jongin 2681m Tent Camp B/L/D
In the beginning, the trail goes gently down to Tamor River, and after crossing the river, the trail goes us a bit hard and rocky path. We flow Tamor river directing throw jungle crossing some small river and reach to the beautiful campsite and significant ground.
Day 6: Trek to Olangchung Gola 3197m Tent Camp B/L/D
Today trek continues along the north bank of Tamor River, we will cross a suspension bridge twice and after hour will get road construction. Today is not a long day after a 4 hour get to Olangchung Gola Tibetain culture village where you can get handmade Galaicha and another handicraft too and old and big monastery. This Galaicha is one of the leading business in this village, they make by themselves and sell it to China or tourist.
Day 7: Rest and Acclimatizing Tent Camp B/L/D
We will stay one more day here for acclimation for altitude. We are going to high pass after a few days. We will visit the monastery and hike some viewpoints for acclimatizing.
Day 8: Trek to Samjung 4001m Tent Camp B/L/D
We flow jeep road till Dinga Samba, the way goes to Tibet, and nowadays, Tibetain jeep comes to Olangchung Gola via this road. After Dinga Samba trail leads to the left west direction river climb up to Samjung. Trail is a rocky step all the way to Laza.
Day 9: Trek to Pass Camp 4641m Tent Camp B/L/D
After breakfast, the trek continues along the bank of the river in the north of direction. We arrive alpine area no more trees here, till Laza trail is rock step may be nowadays more up after Laza trail is steep up an hour and gentle flat Thangjeng and again steep up a bit and a bit down after flat ground bit climb to pass camp.
Day 10: Trek to Gumba Lejen 4480m via Lumbasumba pass 5161m Tent Camp B/L/D
Today is high pass day after 10 minutes cross river and take a west direction and start the steep climb up and come a bit wide and flat area; you can begin to see Mt. Kanchenjunga and Kumbhakarna from here. Again, continue to climb up to Lumbasumba 1st pass, from here you can see panoramic Kanchenjunga mountain range and Tibet border mountain range. After 1st pass, 45-minute straight trail arrived 2nd and high pass, from here you can see Mt. Kanchenjunga range, Mt. Makalu range, Mt. Sagarmatha (Everest). Mt. Lhotse, Chamlang, and many more mountain views.
Day 11: Trek to Thudam 3552m Tent Camp B/L/D
Today is a short day to go down to Thudam, Thuma is a small village where typical people live there. It is far away from another village. Some of the oldest people don't understand and speak Nepali too. They have their traditional dress and language. Sometime they will show culture dance, and in the end, you have to give some tips to them.
Day 12: Trek to Chhunjam 2636m Tent Camp B/L/D
The trail going gentle down in the first hour and steep climb up to Kejung dada 3378m and again steep down an hour and walk through the deep forest up and down the trail. Chhunjam also cal Yak Kharka too. The camp is inside the jungle.
Day 13: Trek to Chyamtang 2224m Tent Camp B/L/D
Today is not a long day, but after a few climbing starts the steep down climb to Arun River and again climb up to Chyamtang. Arun River is one of the longest rivers in Nepal, which is only one river that comes from Tibet. Chyamtang is Bhote culture village.
Day 14: Trek to Hungung 2317m Tent Camp B/L/D
Way to Hungung, we have to cross one big cliff but big enough trail. The trail is quite good, and you will pass some village, and after crossing the river, you have to climb up to Hungung. Hungung is one of the beautiful Bhote culture villages, where culture and language and Buddhist monastery.
Day 15: Rest and Acclimatisation
After long and high passes, we take another rest day here. We will explore the village and relax a bit.
Day 16: Trek to Mulung Pokhari 3961m Tent Camp B/L/D
Today is all the way climb up to Mulung Pokhari, at the beginning walk throw jungle and later we arrived alpine zone. Mulung Pokhari is a beautiful place that is very close to the China border with a panoramic landscape view.
Day 17: Trek to Saldin Kharka 3209m Tent Camp B/L/D
In the beginning, climb to Chhurpi pass and bit gentle up and down arrived another hill, and starts to climb down to Dhugge Kharka via Tip Pokhari. Still, we will walk through bamboo forest to gentle down an hour and gentle climb up to and bit down to Saldin Kharka. Saldin Kharka is the place local people bring their cow in a summer time.
Day 18: Trek to Kalo Pokhari 4190m Tent Camp B/L/D
Today is a bit hard day and a bit tricky. The trail, in the beginning, climb down, flowing the river and take a left and arrived Saldin Khola. After crossing SaldinKhola start climbing up to Nava Odar, till Nava Odar, we walk through the deep jungle after that start alpine area. There is a bit landslide rocky trail around Nava Odar. After Nava Odar starts the steep climb up to Batase Dada and bit strain to another campsite and start another pass. After this pass, the trail is up and down to Kalo Pokhari.
Day 19: Trek to Ksham Kesa 3565m Tent Camp B/L/D
Today we will pass two passes; at beginning gently climb up till Afthero dada and climb steeply down to landslide area. This is a difficult area and starts the climb to ThuloSuntali. Getting ThuloSuntali, we steep climb down to Barun River, which is the holy river in Hindu culture. Flowing north bank of Barun River arrived at our campsite with a view of Mt. Makalu.
Day 20: Trek to Langmale 4432m Tent Camp B/L/D
We flow to the north bank of Barun River crossing Langmale and Todasa. We will see Shiva Dhara holy cave and Amaphujung, too, on the way. From Langmale we have a view of Tutse and Salding mountain range.
Day 21: Trek to Makalu Base 4835m Tent Camp B/L/D
Today is a short day to Makalu Base camp. We will have a fantastic view of Makalu from Makalu base camp. You will be glad if the weather is good. We stand just button of Mt. Makalu.
Day 22: Morning Hike to Swiss BC 5213m & Back to Langmale 4432m Tent Camp B/L/D
Hike to Swiss base camp; we will have a Mount Everest, mt. Lhotse, Mt. Baruntse view from here. Mt. Makalu will be just in front of you. And we get back down to Langmale.
Day 23: Trek to Dobate 3844m Tent Camp B/L/D
We will take a south bank of Barun River till Jyathhe Odar and start to climb up to Dobate. Throw the trail we can see mt. Makalu and other mountain and valley views. The path is a perfectly stone step all the way.
Day 24: Trek to Khongma 3615m via Keke-la 4185m &Sheptem-La 4261m pass Tent Camp B/L/D
We will do two passes today. At the beginning, climb up to Keke-la 4185m pass and down to Thulo Pokhari and again climb up to Sheptem-la 4261m and all the way down to Khongma via ridge and with panoramic Kanchenjunga mountain view, Chamlang, Tutsemt. Mt. Makalu. South of beautiful landscape views down.
Day 25: Trek to Seduwa 1604m Tent Camp B/L/D
Today is bit longer Days, at beginning steep down by stone step trail and walk through deep jungle to Tashi Gaun 1st village after Hungung. The trail continues down to Seduwa crossing different communities one the way. You can see farming over here, including cardamom.
Day 26: Trek to Num 1548m & Drive to Chichila 1883m Tent Camp B/L/D
Today is last Trekking day, at begging steep down to Arun river and start the steep climb up to Num and stop lunch break and take a bus to Chichila.
Day 27: Drive to Tumlingtar 415m & Fly to Kathmandu Hotel B/B
In the morning, take a bus to Tumlingtar Nepal Deepest valley Arun Valley and fly back to Kathmandu.
Day 28: Free Day Hotel B/B
As you reach to Kathmandu, you will get to go shopping through the streets of Kathmandu and can explore various places of Kathmandu and enjoy your last day. Evening we will offer you a farewell dinner.
Day 29: Final Departure.
Our staff will drop to your International airport.
